Protagonist Sean isn’t the endearing quirky outcast but is more of a typical skater kid neither him or his younger brother Daniel (as great as they are) were ever going to compete with Max and Chloe on the same terms there’s no central location but instead entirely new settings every episode romance is a small and largely extraneous part of their story and it has a strong but fickle supporting cast, with none of them appearing in more than two or three episodes.Įven though Dontnod clearly steered away from the first game to let the sequel stand on its own feet, to not rely on or compete with the success or quality of the first, it’s unavoidable as a numbered sequel. Wolves closes out the season with aplomb and rounds out the journey and bond between Sean and Daniel almost perfectly, but in those painful final moments, as the brothers’ relationship is definitively resolved or concluded in one way or another, Episode 5 also highlights why Life is Strange 2 didn’t earn the sort of attention the first enjoyed.īy subverting the original in almost every way, Dontnod might have crafted a masterful B-side to the first game but it clearly wasn’t the sequel that fans wanted or expected. They elegantly summarise the years after Wolves while also hinting at the depth of change and growth that Sean and Daniel experienced. None of the closing epilogues are actively cynical or depressing but they have the edge and gravitas needed to stay authentic to the story and its characters. However you play, Life is Strange 2 ends with a satisfying and suitably bittersweet conclusion. “Away” even includes Chloe’s step-dad David from the first game, who’s managed to grow and heal in the years since whichever conclusion you chose for Arcadia Bay. Sean takes a breath and spends time with both Daniel and Karen without any sort of immediate danger looming over him and lets his injured eye recover. Daniel spends his time connecting with the mother he never knew and helping Joan, an artist and Karen’s BFF, construct giant metal artworks with the powers he doesn’t need to hide. It’s a tight-knit makeshift family made up of people fed up with mainstream society, now living in a peaceful, accepting and self-sufficient community somewhere in the Arizona desert. Hiding out for almost two months with their estranged mother Karen, Wolves finds Sean and Daniel living the best they’ve had since the start of the season in the small reclusive community called “Away”. By doing so, Wolves prepares you for the final stretch to the US-Mexico border wall and the difficult choices you’ll face when you get there. It dwells on Sean and Daniel’s bond, how it has strengthened throughout all the hardship and trauma and how valuable that experience and growth has been, especially to Daniel. Where Episode 4 was the exciting rescue mission from a crazed preacher that drove Sean to his lowest point, Episode 5 is where you look back on what you’ve achieved so far. It naturally leads into the type of dramatic climactic conclusion like you would expect it to after Sean and Daniel’s cross-country escape to Mexico, but it’s still a rather sombre few hours. Wolves, the fifth and final episode of Life is Strange 2, is the season at its most relaxed and reflective.

Is there a way to trace the memory usage throughout the program using pprof? So I am wondering how I can go about to find out why the program allocates 17 GB, when it seems that the peak memory usage is only ~2.5GB? However, if I run go tool pprof mem.prof I get the following results: (pprof) top5 This shows the total allocation of the program: Total alloc: 17 GB If I look at the mem stats after running one file through the pipeline: var mem runtime.MemStatsįmt.Printf("Total alloc: %d GB\n", mem.Alloc/1000/1000/1000) Using runtime.ReadMemStats shows that the program is using ~17GB (and verified by using htop), but pprof only reports about ~2.3GB. Problem is, when I run the program, the Go runtime allocates ~17GB of memory while a matrix only takes up ~2-3GB. To do this I've set up a pipeline of 3 goroutines where the first reads in files, the second calculates the correlation matrix and the last stores the result to disk. I have a Go program that calculates large correlation matrices in memory. So during the rise and fall of Matt Hasselbeck, there have been several key turning points. The offensive line has been dead for the entire season so Matt hasn't had a fair chance at anything. Hasselbeck put up three points against the Cardinals and had two great games against a weak defense. The rest of the games, no matter who the QB is, the offense seems to be dead. This season, in the two games that Matt has performed well in (St Louis and Jacksonville) he posted 69 points. hurt Hasselbeck even before the season started by hiring OC Greg Knapp who is a running coach and not a throwing coach which is Hasselbeck's strength. Matt missed nine games last season, the most by far in his career, which did nothing for the Seahawks because Matt joined about 12 other Seahawks starters on the sideline last season. Well, 2008 wound up being the second worst season (record wise) in franchise history as the Seahawks finished 4-12 and earned the fourth overall pick. That off season Mike Holmgren announced that 2008 would be his final season with the Seahawks organization and that he would retire after the '08 season no matter what the outcome. It looked like the Seahawks could make another run at the super bowl after they had to come from behind to beat the Washington Redskinds 35-14 thanks to Marcus Trufant in the fourth quarter. He finished with 3,966 yards passing in 2007. Matt threw for 28 TD's, 12 INT's and almost 4,000 yards passing and did not miss a single game. So Holmgren was forced to go to a "pass first and pass heavy" offense and that's when Hasselbeck broke free. The running game for the Seahawks was depleted with injuries and the fall of Shaun Alexander. Matt Hasselbeck and Mike Holmgren gave it one last hurrah in 2007 and it led to Hasselbeck's best statistical season of his career. Matt finished 2006 with 18 TD's, 15 INT's and 2,442 yards passing but it was still enough to win the NFC West. However, injuries were not the worst of Hasselbeck's problems. Some lone fans still can't handle the ref's calls during SB XL, but the Seahawks and Hasselbeck haven't been the same since '05.Īfter Super Bowl XL, Hasselbeck suffered a drastic setback in 2006 and was also forced to be sidelined for four games due to injury. The Seahawks went 13-3, a franchise best, on their way to Super Bowl XL in which they had a questionable lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Matt Hasselbeck mended up and put it behind him in the off season. Hasselbeck turned in a career low nine interceptions while throwing for 24 touchdowns and 3,459 yards passing. The peak of Hasselbeck's career would come in 2005 when he led the Seahawks to the best season in franchise history, as well as the team's only super bowl. Hasselbeck didn't say anything that he would regret, but the Seahawks still could not get out of the wild card playoff round lost to division rival, the St. The playoff story remained the same little change. However, Matt didn't let that effect him going into the 2004 campaign, as he led the Seahawks to a 9-7 season and the Seahawks first of five division crowns since the Seahawks joined the NFC West. Hasselbeck wound up throwing a pick to Packers corner back Al Harris which finished off the Seahawks playoffs and sent them home with a bitter taste in their mouth. "We want the ball and we are gonna score."Īt the time, I'm watching this and thinking to myself, 'I love confidence but there is a fine line between confidence and stupidity'. Hasselbeck turned to the official after the coin landed and caught the official’s microphone. What happened next will always be questioned by a lot of Seahawks fans. Going into OT, the Seahawks sent out their captains for the coin toss. It was the first of many questionable decisions made by Matt Hasselbeck. However, the taste of the playoffs was short lived for the Seahawks as they lost in the first round of the '03 playoffs to Holmgren and Hasselbeck's former team-the Green Bay Packers. It was the first 10 win season since 1986 for the Seahawks. Mike Holmgren's decision to make Hasselbeck the starter paid off in the utmost way as Hasselbeck turned in a stellar season-leading the Seahawks to a 10-6 finish and a wildcard playoff berth. Matt Hasselbeck finally beat out his competition, Trent Dilfer to become the Seahawks starting quarterback. Two years after being acquired by the Seahawks.
